The NFL’s Twitter platform is being used to target the competitors of its main rival, The NFL Network, the league said Tuesday.
The league says that the NFL Network uses the Twitter platform in “a number of ways” including to “target and highlight its most engaged users,” and “promote the league’s programming.”
The Twitter account @NFL_Network_Twitter was suspended last month, the first time the league has banned a Twitter account.
The suspension follows a similar suspension of the NFL’s main competitor, ESPN.
The NFL Network is owned by ESPN and has been criticized for using the platform to promote its own shows.
The league said it is looking into the matter.
